“American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7 will bring back another familiar face, Papa Legba (Lance Reddick). Meanwhile, there are reports pointing out a subtle reference to a previous season of the franchise that is not “Coven” or “Murder House.”

The episode prior to “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7 somehow makes the two-season crossover official. The current storyline has finally returned to the Murder House setting. But viewers should expect more familiar characters to return in the remaining episodes.

One of the most exciting parts of the “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7 preview is the surprise appearance of Papa Legba. To fans unfamiliar with the character, he holds the title of the Gatekeeper of the Spirit World or the Spirit of the Dead. In a nutshell, if someone wants to acquire immortality, Papa Legba is their guy.

Like many characters in “Apocalypse,” Papa Legba was also part of the “Coven” season. And his confirmed return says a lot about a major twist in “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7. Someone will request to become immortal and here is a clue of who that is.

Papa Legba is a prominent loa in voodoo. And who seeks help by participating in a voodoo ritual in “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7 preview? That is Cordelia (Sarah Paulson).

However, it is important to note that before attaining an immortal status, Papa Legba will most likely require Cordelia to sacrifice something in “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7. In “Coven,” it can be recalled that Papa Legba ordered Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett) to kill an innocent person as a sacrifice whenever he wants once a year.

As mentioned, “American Horror Story” season 8 is famously known as the crossover installment between “Coven” and “Murder House.” However, reports note that the current season is not rigidly confined to making references strictly based on these storylines.

Many have noticed that in episode 6, the show mentioned the Blood Moon. To anyone who did not notice it, this is a subtle reference to season 6, subtitled “Roanoke.” However, it is impossible that “American Horror Story” season 8 could be a three-part crossover. It is more likely a simple Easter egg treat for avid fans of the franchise.

Hopefully, more mini surprises are tucked into the remaining episodes. “American Horror Story” season 8 episode 7 will air on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
