‘American Horror Story’ season 7 creator Ryan Murphy admitted that he wants series mainstay Jessica Lange to return as a leading actress in the Presidential Election-themed installment.
During an interview with TV Guide, Murphy was asked whether he wanted Jessica Lange to return as a leading lady on the upcoming season of his anthology horror television series. He replied, "I think she would if I bribed her enough, you know? I haven't really talked to her about it at all because we are still figuring out that story, but I think we do want to do that."
Murphy was in attendance at the ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ event in New York last April 18. Lange starred as Joan Crawford in Murphy’s other anthology television series that depicts real life events in history. Joining Lange in the cast of Feud are Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis, Alfred Molina as Robert Aldrich, and Stanley Tucci as Jack L. Warner.
Lange is a veteran cast member on Murphy’s horror series. She played Constance Langdon in season 1, titled “Murder House”, as well as Fiona Goode in season 3, titled “Coven.” Although the 67-year old actress revealed that she was ready to move on from the show, she expressed her willingness to take on minor roles in subsequent seasons.
The American actress won numerous awards for her performances on the horror series including two Emmy Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe Award.
The upcoming season of ‘American Horror Story’ is reportedly drawing inspiration from the 2016 Presidential Elections. Murphy previously hinted that one of the characters may draw inspiration from the current President of the United States, Donald Trump. It will begin on election night, with POTUS Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Murphy said, n. "It's our jumping off point… [It is about] what happened on that night and the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps is a horror story. [AHS] is always so fun when it's about the zeitgeist and what we're doing now."
Meanwhile, Billie Lourd of ‘Scream Queens’ fame is set to join the new cast of characters alongside show veterans Sarah Poulson and Evan Peters. According to Deadline, Lourd will also be joining fellow newcomer Billy Eichner.
‘American Horror Story’ season 7 was renewed on FX last October 2016.
