NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2017 -- Stephanie DeHart-Giberson, HIM/Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Director at Mahaska Health Partnership, has been selected to join the Industry Board at the American Health Council. She will be sharing her knowledge and expertise in Healthcare Education, Workforce Development, Business, Coding, IT, and Health Informatics.
Ms. DeHart-Giberson has been active in the healthcare industry for the past 25 years. She received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Informatics from Indian Hills Community College in 1993, her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Buena Vista University in 2013, and her Master’s degree in Behavioral Health from Capella University in 2015. Her certifications include Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Certified Healthcare Finance Professional (CHFP), Certified Healthcare Privacy Expert (CHPE), and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). She is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
At Mahaska Health Partnership, DeHart-Giberson partakes in the oversight of daily functions within the HIS Department, including management of physician and hospital coding, transcription, charge entry, budget preparation & adherence, and physician education, among others.
Ms. DeHart-Giberson formerly worked at Henry County Health Center, where her day-to-day responsibilities included overseeing ER registration, pre-authorization eligibility, transparency, medical staff credentialing, coding, and HIS (Hospital Information System). A former Adjunct Professor at Indian Hills Community College, she has taught Healthcare Informatics.
Ms. DeHart-Giberson is affiliated with professional associations IAMSS, NAMSS, AHIMA, IHIMA, HFMA. She has served on the Indiana Health Information Management Association’s (IHIMA) Board of Directors in multiple roles, including President, Treasurer, 1st Year Director, 2nd Year Director, and Secretary. She has also served on the Iowa Association Medical Staff Services’ (IAMSS) Board of Directors.
Ms. DeHart-Giberson attributes her success and ability to move up the ladder to how she treats people, always with the utmost respect. She graduated with honors from both Buena Vista University and Capella University and is proud of having built a reputable and honest career that has led her to a managerial position where she leads a staff of 17. Her goals over the next five years include branching out to the financial side of the revenue cycle or moving into a more administrative role.
Out of all her achievements, Ms. DeHart-Giberson is most proud of the support she receives from her boys, Nicholas, Zachary, and Joshua. She is also involved with the Humane Society of Stillwater.
In her free time, Ms. DeHart-Giberson enjoys running 5Ks.
