Amazon has unveiled the latest iteration of its Amazon Fire TV Stick, but that is not the only entertainment device launching from the e-commerce giant this fall. The company has also announced its first smart TV lineups that are all going to ship next month.
Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max: What’s new
The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max comes with a few upgrades from the previous streaming stick and remote control bundle released by the company. One of the biggest changes in the latest model is that it supports Wi-Fi 6 connections, which Amazon says should deliver “high-performance streaming.”
It is also the first Fire TV Stick to feature Live View Picture-in-Picture, which was previously exclusive to the Fire TV Cube. The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max’s specifications are fairly similar to its predecessors, except for a slightly bigger 2GB RAM, 1.8GHz CPU frequency, and 750MHz GPU speed. Like the previous Amazon-branded streaming sticks, it also has 8GB storage, supports Dolby Atmos, and has a quad-core processor.
Pre-orders are now open for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max at $54.99 for the stick and the remote control. But the item will not be released until Oct. 7.
Amazon Fire TV Omni Series vs. 4-Series
The company has also launched two new Amazon-branded smart TV lineups called Omni and 4-Series. Per Amazon’s descriptions, the Amazon Fire 4-Series TVs are designed for “everyday entertainment” while the Omni series TVs would deliver “a cinematic home theater experience.”
Both TV lineups possess the most crucial features, including 4K UHD resolution and support for HDR 10 and HLG. They are both built with LED panels and support Dolby Digital Plus audio format. The available TV ports are the same, including three for HDMI 2.0 and one for HDMI eARC 2.1.
However, the Amazon Fire TV Omni series models have a number of exclusive features. Its supported Alexa functions are complete — press and ask, hands-free, and two-way video calling. The 4-Series TVs only have the first feature.
Amazon Fire TV 4-Series comes in three screen sizes — 43 inches ($369.99), 50 inches ($469.99), and 55 inches ($519.99). The Omni series comes in those three sizes with prices starting at $409.99, as well as 65 inches ($829.99) and 75 inches ($1,099.99) that both support Dolby Vision. All Omni and 4-Series models are available for pre-order now and will be released on Oct. 27.
