“Altered Carbon” season 2’s filming finally commenced and this confirmed that the cyber-punk drama thriller is coming back to the small screen soon. The series has been delayed for a long time but the announcement of filming took away the disappointments of fans and brought back a renewed feeling of excitement.
Netflix renewed “Altered Carbon” season 2 in July last year but filming started very late. It only began last Feb. 4 and the cast and the production team were confirmed to be working in the vicinity of Vancouver. It was mentioned that the shoot in Canada will last until June 25.
With this schedule, it is possible that fans will be able to watch “Altered Carbon” season 2 again in late 2019 or early 2020. Moreover, fans will see a new protagonist when the series returns.
Joel Kinnaman is not reprising his role as Takeshi Kovacs in “Altered Carbon” season 2 and he was replaced by Anthony Mackie who is most known as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he first appeared in “Captain America.” He will be the new lead and this change is part of the major alteration done by the showrunners to the series.
Featuring a new Takeshi Kovacs in “Altered Carbon” season 2 is not a problem at all because of the futuristic theme of the drama. It presents a concept where people can live forever because in case of death, they can simply plant their brains in another body that they call the “sleeve” and they will be brought back to life again.
Needless to say, Joel Kinnaman’s sleeve is dead so his consciousness has been transferred to a new sleeve in the form of Anthony Mackie. As a result, the new Takeshi Kovacs can now resume his life with a new face but the same mind.
“Altered Carbon” season 2 has no premiere date yet but fans can expect an announcement starting June when filming wraps up.
