According to Comicbook Movie, it remains unclear whether the American television series will return on the small screens for a fifth season. However, it is possible that an announcement for the future of the ABC series will be made sometime in May this year.
It was reported that the series is ABC’s second-lowest rated show on the primetime slot. It averaged a 0.75 in the 18-49 demographic, with 2.4 million viewers per week. It was speculated that the rating dip may be due to the show’s change in timeslot.
The Marvel series is based on the fictional organization S.H.I.E.L.D. and revolves around Phil Coulson and his team of agents as they deal with the aftermath of the signing of the Sokovia Accords. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and shares continuity with the various films and television series of the franchise.
‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ season 4’s episode 16, titled “What If,” is scheduled to air on ABC on April 4, 2017. It was directed by Oz Scott and written by DJ Doyle. It will be followed by episode 17, titled "Identity and Change," directed by Garry A. Brown and scheduled to be released on April 11.
