“Pokémon GO” trainers on the lower levels might have to wait a while before they can start trading characters and adding friends to their profiles.
Last week, developer Niantic Labs finally announced the “Pokémon GO” update that will allow trainers to add people to their own Friends List and start trading items and Pokémon with them. These features have been some of the most requested additions since the game’s release in 2016.
The update finally arrived on Thursday afternoon. But the catch was that it was temporarily limited to trainers who have reached the top levels in the game, beginning with players on levels 38 to 40.
About an hour later, Niantic Labs confirmed that the features had also been added to trainers on levels 37 down to 33. Then, trainers on level 30 to 32 also gained access to the update a few moments later.
As of this writing, those are all the trainer levels that have access to the trading and add-a-friend update on “Pokémon GO.” Unfortunately, there is also no specific timeline given with regards to the release of these features on other lower levels.
And with the updates stopping at level 30, some players cannot help but worry about the possibility that these features might be exclusive to these tiers for a while. However, it is best to wait for Niantic’s official announcement if that is going to be the case.
Meanwhile, it can be recalled that Niantic Labs used the same manner of update release when it introduced the Raid Battles to “Pokémon GO” trainers last year. And it might cause a bit of concern to note that the Raid Battles update took a few weeks before it was introduced to more levels.
With the sought-after update, “Pokémon GO” trainers can add real-life friends to their in-game Friends List. Then, they can go on raid and gym battles or catch Pokémon together. Characters caught together by two friends can be traded once they are within short distance of one another.
“Pokémon GO” is available on iOS and Android.
