SEATTLE, Aug. 08, 2017 -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.70 percent, down three basis points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate hovered between 3.67 percent and 3.74 percent for most of the week before settling at the current rate.
“Mortgage rates were roughly flat last week for the second week in a row,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “This week markets are likely to focus on inflation data due Friday and several speeches by Fed officials throughout the week. However, August tends to be a relatively quiet month in financial markets and rates should remain within their recent range.”
Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.
The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.95 percent, and the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.98 percent.
