The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) has revealed its plans to take a trade delegation of eleven successful UK fintech companies to Australia and New Zealand in March.
The selected companies include Aire, Clarus FT, Clearmacro, FundApps, ingage, iwoca, Neyber, ObjectTech, Onfido, Sybenetix, and Tradle. These companies will participate in a full programme of events, meetings and workshops over 5 days from March 20 – 24, in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
“The opportunities for both the UK and Australasia in fintech are vast and it is fantastic to see so many UK fintech companies doing well here”, British Consul General and Director General UK Trade and Investment, Michael Ward said. “We look forward to welcoming our first UK fintech delegation to showcase the opportunities that exist in Australia and New Zealand for UK companies and to foster greater collaboration between our countries in this rapidly developing and growing sector.”
The trade mission will provide a platform for UK and Australian counterparts to exchange ideas, best practice and discover potential areas for collaboration. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet and pitch to Australian financial institutions and Venture Capital Firms, visit fintech hubs, meet the regulator and government ministers, network with the Australian fintech community and UK fintechs that have found success here, and meet with potential customers and partners.
“The substantial growth in directly invested assets poses new challenges for engagement and communication between investors and corporate IR teams both in Australia and across the world. We are excited about the potential for our software in the Australian market and are proud to have been chosen to participate in the UK’s first fintech mission down under”, ingage Founder & Managing Director Michael Hufton said. “We look forward to demonstrating how our world class solution can benefit Australian IR teams and institutional investors in facilitating their investor relations and direct engagement programmes.”
DIT’s fintech specialist Shaul David will also be joining the mission from London, according to the official announcement. David will host a number of workshops including two demo days where UK fintechs will have the opportunity to pitch to potential investors.
