Krispy Kreme encourages couples, friends, or families to rekindle relationships if they experience "ghosting," which is a slang term that refers to a situation when someone cuts off all communication without explanation.
To reverse ghosting and promote better relationships, Krispy Kreme launched its Social Ghosting Donut Campaign, where it will give away a "Ghosted Box" that contains donuts to revive relationships.
Ghosting Donuts Promo in the U.K. for the Halloween
A study revealed that in the past year, two in five Britons have experienced ghosting by a friend or family member. These occurrences may be one of the reasons why friendship groups are on a decline.
Moreover, according to Wales Online U.K., almost one in ten individuals now say they have no close friends at all, and this is a 50% increase based on the figures from a decade ago. In an effort to stop this trend, Krispy Kreme is calling on the Brits to reconnect with their friends by taking advantage of the most ghostly time of the year.
Krispy Kreme wants people to use the trick-or-treat event to reconnect by giving friends and families free Original Glazed "Ghosted Box" of donuts. The mechanics are simple: people just need to deliver empty boxes to their friends, and these will be refilled with free donuts when they visit Kripy Kreme stores from Oct. 23 to Oct. 27.
"This Halloween, we are pleased to be calling on the nation to reconnect with their 'ghosts' through the medium of doughnuts." Krispy Kreme's chief marketing officer UK & Ireland, Emma Colquhoun, said in a statement. "Our doughnuts provide a perfect sharing moment which is why they're certain to bring people back together, rewarding them with a box of our delicious Original Glazed doughnuts."
Krispy Kreme Scooby-Doo Donuts for Halloween Dozen
Aside from the "ghosting" campaign in the U.K., Krispy Kreme also teamed up with Scooby-Doo to launch its Halloween promotions in the United States. USA Today reported that the donut and coffee chain created a special Scooby-Doo Halloween Dozen in collaboration with Warner Bros.
The chain is celebrating Friday the 13th on Oct. 13 by offering a dozen of Original Glazed for just 13 cents with a purchase of any Krispy Kreme dozen at a regular price. On Oct. 31, it will also give away free donut treats to customers who will wear Halloween costumes at participating shops, and the best part is - that purchase is not necessary to claim the freebies.
