ITAMCO that develops the advanced privacy app Crypto-Chat, announced that it will be developing a secure, blockchain-based, non-hackable messaging and transaction platform for the U.S. military.
ITAMCO has been awarded a Phase 1 grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for developing the messaging app platform. During the 1st Phase of the project, ITAMCO will be developing the cyber-security architecture for a safe messaging app based on blockchain technology and existing Crypto-Chat application. This Phase will run approximately for 10 months.
“We are excited to work with DARPA to develop the latest in military-grade encryption software using blockchain technology, and look forward to offering an enterprise solution for secure messaging to industry,” Joel Neidig, Director of Research and Development, ITAMCO, stated.
The project is aimed to create secure, more efficient and robust platform for the Department of Defense communications. Its use cases will range from communication of troops on the ground with HQ, to sending information between intelligence officers and the Pentagon.
The grant for the Phase 1 was made through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, where ITAMCO is planning to partner with Jarek Nabrzyski, Director of the Center for Research Computing at the University of Notre Dame, and Ian Taylor, Distributed Computing and Data Science Research Professor at the Center, for the Phase 1.
With the help of blockchain technology, ITAMCO is seeking to allow anyone, anywhere to send a secure message or conduct other transactions that can be traced through a decentralized ledger across multiple channels.
The Phase 2 of the project is expected to be moved soon, which is a multi-year project that aims to develop, test, and evaluate a working prototype of the app. The 3rd Phase that will follow, will involve full-scale deployment and implementation of the platform and the commercialization of the app.
