The US President Donald Trump just concluded his first foreign trip over the weekend; a trip that was full of grandeur, historic as well as controversial in some areas. In this trip, President Trump and his surrogates pointed out that he will be visiting centers of three global Abrahamic faiths, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
- The trip began in Saudi Arabia, where President Trump was escorted in a royal manner and was received by the King himself at Air Force One, a rare honor bestowed upon selected few. President Trump condemned terrorism in his speech in Saudi Arabia and the speech was called by many as an inspirational one. The trip to Saudi Arabia was historic in a sense that for the first time a sitting U.S. President has addressed the leaders from all the Muslim-majority countries attended his Islamic conference except for Iran and Syria. Here are some important videos from the event.

- President Trump’s next stop was Israel and Palestine, where he is aiming to make peace. He was greeted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin. The trip became a historic one as President Trump became the first sitting U.S. President to have visited the western wall. The speeches in this trip were full of hopes of making a peace between the Israelis and Palestinians as well as condemnation of Iran as a sponsor of terrorism. - Concluding his first trip to the Middle East, President Trump left for Rome to meet the Pope in the Vatican. While the private meeting between the Pope and President Trump lasted only 29 minutes, the meetings between cardinals and Trump surrogates were reportedly longer. Here are the links,

- After President Trump’s visit to the Vatican, he went to Belgium to attend a NATO summit and from where the controversies began. While mentioned Russia as a threat to the European Union, his calls to the NATO members to pay their fair share and clear past dues were louder. There he was accused of shoving the leader of the newest member Montenegro to get to the spotlight. The body language also pointed at discomfort or gaps between the United States and other countries. Here is a link to President Trump’s full speech at NATO.

- Soon after the NATO meeting, President Trump and other G7 leaders head for Italy to attend a two-day meeting. There again body languages did point to considerable differences and written text showed that President Trump didn’t commit to Paris Climate Accord, while the rest of the other leaders did. Fortunately, common grounds could be found in the case of trade but talks were tough. At the G7 summit, the newly elected French president snubbed President Trump by changing his direction at the last moment to handshake the German Chancellor Angela Merkel instead of him. The handshakes between Trump and Macron became a major point of discussion at the international arena. Here are the links to important videos including the handshake videos.
