French Election: RT reports violent crashes in Paris after Macron victory; reporter detained

According to reports by Russia Today, violent protests broke out in Paris after the independent candidate Emmanuel Macron emerged victorious in the second round of the French election beating the Front National candidate Marine le Pen. According to reports, some 300 protesters gathered in the Ménilmontant neighborhood in eastern Paris. Police have reportedly deployed tear gas after protesters repeatedly threw bottles at them. In the meantime, protests took place in several cities across France.

Protesters also gathered near the headquarters of Emmanuel Macron’s Presidential campaign ‘En Marche’ calling for the resignation of Emmanuel Macron. At least 15 people were detained by police while many were injured during the clash.

It is being reported that a journalist named Charlotte Dubenskij was detained by French police as she was reporting the protest on Russia Today. She reportedly showed her press ID to the police, which was ignored. She was held in a van for 10-15 minutes and then was driven around for another 30 minutes. Her phone was taken away from her while she was reporting via Skype. She was released later.
