“Tokyo Ghoul” season 4 is slated to premiere this week. While it is expected to cover the rest of the manga chapters, some fans still speculate on the chances of having a “Tokyo Ghoul:re” part 3.
The upcoming anime installment is regarded as the franchise’s final series. This means that “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4 is expected to cover all the remaining chapters in the manga series in 12 episodes.
Based on the trailer and other teasers, Haise will go through the transition into being Kaneki again at the beginning of “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4. However, many fans have varying predictions on how the final season will conclude.
In one Reddit thread, a fan predicts that Kaneki will fight and eventually kill Kichimura Washuu. However, the main protagonist will be likely killed in the process. Kaneki’s supposed death will then lead to a “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4 finale where ghouls and humans get along and treat one another as equals.
However, other fans do not agree that this is a feasible or worthy ending for the franchise. Some believe that there will be more story beyond “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4.
They argue that it is quite impossible for “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4 to provide a proper ending since it only has 12 episodes “and there is still so much potential left in the series for character development.” With that, other fans agree that after the anime season coming out this month, there could be a “Tokyo Ghoul:re” part 3 that will have a new protagonist and will be post-apocalyptic in nature.
It is important to note, however, that there is no official word on whether or not a “Tokyo Ghoul:re” part 3 in manga or anime will follow. So, at the moment, it is best to expect that the last 122 chapters will be covered in the 12 episodes of “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4.
That’s about 10 chapters squeezed into every episode so it is interesting how that will work for the anime series and if fans will like the presumably fast-paced narration. “Tokyo Ghoul” season 4 will premiere on Oct. 9.
