When the iPhone 12 release date arrives next year, buyers will have more options to choose from. Apple is set to introduce six variants of its upcoming smartphone flagship, which will arrive by the fall of 2020.
According to Forbes, there will be six models of iPhone 12 next year, which include two variants for Plus and one variant for Max. The leak came from Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang in a private note to investors.
Three variants of the upcoming phone will only have the 4G capability. These are the iPhone 12 4G, the iPhone 12 Pro 4G, and the iPhone 12 Pro Plus 4G.
The based model iPhone 12 4G will feature a 6.1-inch LCD screen while the Pro 4G will have a smaller 5.4-inch OLED display. Both models will feature dual rear cameras.
On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro Plus 4G will have a 6.1-inch OLED screen. It will also have triple rear cameras with Time-of-Flight (ToF) 3D sensing capability.
Apple will also introduce three 5G capable variants of its upcoming flagship. These are the iPhone 12 Pro 5G, the Pro Plus 5G, and the Pro Max 5G.
The iPhone 12 Pro 5G will feature a 5.4-inch OLED display. It will also have a dual-camera setup located at the back.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Plus 5G and the Pro Max 5G basically share the same specs when it comes to their display and rear camera set up. Both phones will sport a larger 6.1-inch OLED screen, and their rear triple camera setup will also have the ToF feature.
Apple’s decision to offer both 4G and 5G models of the iPhone 12 is a smart move considering that some smartphone users would not want to pay a premium for a mere 5G capability, especially when 4G connectivity would suit their needs just fine.
In addition, 5G coverage is not yet widespread worldwide. It would make sense for the company to offer the lower-priced 4G models of the iPhone 12 in markets where 5G coverage is still an issue.
Most of the iPhone 12 models will arrive by September of 2020, according to Apple Insider. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro 5G is expected to arrive by the spring of 2021.
