As expected, the announcement of iOS 13 was one of the opening highlights at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference this week. The upcoming iPhone features that were once just rumors are now listed as things to be officially excited about in September.
Apple only mentions iOS 13’s release date window in fall. However, it has been the company’s tradition to roll out the update along with the retail release of new iPhones every year that typically happens in September. Also, iOS 13 only supports iPhone 6S and later models.
System-Wide Dark Mode
This one is obviously the most talked-about and anticipated new feature coming in iOS 13. The dark scheme display option that can be applied to the UI of all stock apps. Apple sneaked in one tiny detail that makes its version of dark mode somewhat unique. The Dark Mode is programmed to “adjust” its shade and palette to complement multimedia contents being viewed. Third-party app developers can add an option for an automatic switch to dark more setting at a certain time of the day.
Improved and New Photo Editing Tools
The stock Photo app is one of the recipients of the biggest upgrades this year. Apple adds an array of “comprehensive and intuitive” photo editing tools arriving through the iOS 13 update. Soon, users will be able to immediately adjust Portrait Lighting right after taking a photo as this option will be added on the Camera app.
App Downloads, Updates Take Much Less Space
One of the interesting performance-related updates to be implemented on iOS 13 is focused on the space-saving aspect. Download size of iPhone apps will take as much as 50 percent less storage while apps updates will be down by up to 60 percent, thanks to a new packaging program on the iOS 13.
New Interactive Maps Features
Like the Photo and Camera app, Apple is also revamping the stock Maps app on iOS 13. The tech company is finally adding updated road details, including more accurate addresses. Apple is also adding the Look Around feature where users can remotely roam around a city through 3D images.
