Since the first-person indie adventure game called “Firewatch” launched back in February, it was only available for the PC and the PlayStation 4, leaving out Xbox One owners. Now, developer Campo Santo is announcing that owners of the Microsoft console will no longer have to feel left out since the title will be coming to the Xbox One on September 21st.
An Xbox One version of “Firewatch” was previously not on the priority list for the developers, PC Magazine reports, with Campo Santo saying that they simply did not have the resources needed to create one. However, co-founder Sean Vanaman did note that if the desire from the slighted console owners was significant enough, they would look into it.
It seems the desire certainly was there since the title is now coming over to the console. In response to the fervent call for an Xbox One version, the developers are also throwing in some exclusive content, according to a blog post by Campo Santo.
"Along with the main game, we're also shipping the Firewatch Audio Tour (a free update for all customers!) which we'll talk a little bit more about tomorrow,” the post reads. “The short version: one part scavenger hunt, one part museum tour, one part game dev workshop, mixed with a dash of inside Campo Santo goofs. We think you will like it very much."
Tech Times notes that there is also a promised “Free Roam” mode where players will be able to explore the game world as they see fit, unlocking secrets along the way. Xbox One owners will be the first to get the chance to try this new offering, while PC and PS4 players will be left in the cold for at least a few weeks.
“Firewatch” is an incredibly successful title, which generated $10 million in its first month of release. The game continues to sell well to date, and with the addition of an Xbox One version, sales are expected to see an uptick.
