Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus recently released and based on the reviews, so far, it’s shaping up to be the best first-person shooting game of 2017. Fast-paced, lots of blood and gore, and a stupendous amount of weapons to dispatch enemies with, there’s hardly anything about the game to complain about. Then again, there is the matter of the PC performance being a bit scratchy, but it’s nothing a bit of fiddling with the settings can’t fix.
As Engadget notes, the release of Wolfenstein II could not have come at a more fitting time. With Neo-Nazis brazenly marching in U.S. streets and the President of the United States himself inviting fascists and white supremacists into the White House, Americans need a reminder that none of these things are okay.
This is where a video game that depicts a version of America overrun by Nazis and a protagonist that gleefully blasts them to pieces comes in. Wolfenstein II is particularly good at the shooting part, as well.
By all accounts, the combat mechanics are smooth, fun, and incredibly addictive. There are so many ways to kill Nazis in this game that reviewers have a hard time choosing their favorite moments. There are also the elements of drama and the deep anti-fascism message embedded in the title, which comes off in practically every scene.
In order to fully appreciate all of these aspects, however, the game’s settings need to be perfectly suited to a gamer’s rig. This is why PCGamesN compiled a broad list of potential graphical settings, which could provide players with an idea of what their own presets should be.
Suffice it to say, however, PC gamers will enjoy the title much more if they have a beefy rig. A 10-series GPU from Nvidia would be ideal, along with a sixth generation CPU from Intel.
