“Wentworth” season 7 is confirmed to arrive after Australia’s Foxtel announced that the filming and production of the prison-themed drama had commenced already. For global release, it will be streamed via Netflix at a later time after Foxtel aired the show.
Penny Win, “Wentworth” season 7’s executive producer and Foxtel’s chief said with regards to the renewal of the drama: “It’s hard to believe we are already rolling the cameras on season seven of Wentworth. It feels like only yesterday we were reintroducing Foxtel viewers to such iconic characters like Bea Smith and ‘The Freak’ Joan Ferguson.”
“Wentworth” season 7 was renewed in April last year and since then, the production has been ongoing. It was said that the working schedule of the show is tight because they want to wrap up on time for the set release.
What to Expect
Just like most drama series, “Wentworth” season 7 will pick up from where the sixth installment concluded. There was a big fight between Drago (The Freak) and Rita and the viewers will see how that will end.
Moreover, “Wentworth” season 7 will show the result of the interrogation for people who aided in the escape of an inmate. There is surely a need for tighter security so the prison guards and staff were replaced. Fans can expect big changes after the replacements take effect.
New Cast
Leah Purcell, Rarriwuy Hick, and Susie Porter have been added to the cast line up of “Wentworth” season 7 that already include an impressive list of role players like Kate Atkinson (Vera Bennett) and Celia Ireland (Liz Birdsworth).
Commenting on the addition of the said actresses, “Wentworth” season 7 director Jo Porter said, “The recently announced addition of the brilliant Leah Purcell, Susie Porter, and Rarriwuy Hick to our ensemble of exceptional cast speaks to the reputation Wentworth has maintained for attracting the best talent on and off screen.”
Release Date
“Wentworth” season 7 could arrive in 2020 or 2021 according to OtakuKart. The new season is also expected to feature at least 15 episodes in all.
