The National Basketball Association (NBA) has extended its partnership with streaming platform Migu, which would utilize 5G network and other related technology during live broadcasts and reviews and offer virtual reality (VR) viewing experiences.
Additional fan activities will also be introduced by Migu's parent company, China Mobile’s NBA coverage.
The NBA and Migu initially partnered in 2018 to deliver various content to fans in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Migu was then named as the NBA’s official telecom carrier immersion platform in China.
Other than enhancing Migu’s viewing experiences, China Mobile secured rights to offer the NBA’s League Pass streaming to Chinese fans.
League Pass will be available via Migu and the digital set-top box Mobaihe.
China Mobile’s League Pass deal, which kicks in from the ongoing 2021/22 season, is for four years and includes regular-season games, the All-Star game, playoffs, and finals.
Meanwhile, the NBA continues to expand in China with its NBA DreamCourts Preview Center, its first multipurpose experience center in the country to be launched in May 2022 in Suzhou city.
The Suzhou center will feature themed restaurants, retail services, and interactive games.
Another five venues are due to follow.
