U.S. under Trump Series: Media speculates national security advisor McMaster to be next in line for cabinet reshuffle

U.S. media and political analysts are speculating that President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster is the next person in the firing line after Chief Economic Advisor Gary Cohn and the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson were shown the door in a cabinet reshuffle. Speaking of Tillerson’s exit, President Trump hinted at more reshuffles while speaking to reporters as he was leaving to see the border wall prototypes. Trump said, “So I’ve gotten to know a lot of people very well over the last year. And I’m really at a point where we’re getting very close to having the Cabinet and other things that I want.”

Gary Cohn and President Trump disagreed over tariffs (25 percent on Steel imports and 10 percent on Aluminum imports), while Secretary Tillerson and the President confronted on many issues such as climate change, Iran deal, and North Korea.

The report was published by Washington Post, however, White House has denied that. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted, “Just spoke to @POTUS and Gen. H.R. McMaster - contrary to reports they have a good working relationship and there are no changes at the NSC.” However, such a change can’t be ruled out as similar speculations went rampant before Gary Cohn and Secretary Tillerson’s ousting.
