Two days after fake bitcoin wallet apps taken off Apple store, another breach reported

Reports on fake bitcoin wallet apps getting listed on Apple’s App Store started making rounds few days back. Despite Apple’s rigorous review process, more than ten such fake apps made it to the App Store, Motherboard reported.

These wallets have completely copied the name and logo of the authentic bitcoin wallets. Reddit user ‘breadwallet_dan’ listed some of these fake wallets that included Breadwallet, Blockchain, GreenBits and others. Scam wallets of BitGo and Coinbase have also made it to the store.

According to latest reports, Apple has removed the fraudulent apps listed by Breadwallet. However, the whole incident has put a question mark on Apple's app review process.

"I think it would be good for Apple to go through some extra process to make sure they have the identity of the person posting any app in the finance section," Breadwallet co-founder Aaron Voisine told Motherboard.
In a recent post on Reddit, breadwallet_dan announced that another fake Breadwallet app has been added to the Apple Store. It says:

“The impersonator app uses the same title and icon as the real app.

Do not download the impersonator app as described below. The real app has breadwallet LLC listed as the seller, and a link to it can always be found at breadwallet.com

The fake app can be found below, with it's exact name:

Breadwallet - bitcoin wallet™ by Bitcoin Wallet https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/breadwallet-bitcoin-wallet/id1141814945?mt=8”.

At the time of writing, the above scam wallet is still listed on the App Store. Even as Apple is trying to crack down on the fake apps, the scammers are going on listing their fraudulent money stealing apps unabated.
