Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) shares briefly climbed more than 1% after President Donald Trump's latest financial disclosure revealed a stock purchase worth up to $25 million. The shares later trimmed their gains as investors assessed the president's extensive trading activity.
According to CNBC, Trump's newly released 18-page financial filing detailed 517 securities transactions completed in August, including major investments in Meta and SpaceX debt.
The disclosed purchases and sales carried a combined estimated value ranging from $74.3 million to $273.3 million. Federal reporting requirements allow officials to disclose transactions within specified dollar ranges rather than providing exact figures.
CNBC's analysis showed that Trump's purchases totaled at least $44.2 million, while reported sales reached a minimum of $30.1 million.
Despite the substantial activity, August represented a slowdown compared with June and July, when Trump reported more than 1,000 transactions in each month.
The largest transaction involved Meta shares purchased on August 21, with a disclosed value between $5 million and $25 million. The investment attracted market attention, briefly lifting the social media company's stock price.
Trump also expanded his holdings across several major U.S. corporations on the same day. His filing revealed investments ranging from $1 million to $5 million each in AT&T, ConocoPhillips, Abbott Laboratories, Netflix and Chevron.
Meanwhile, the president reported selling positions worth between $1 million and $5 million each in Advanced Micro Devices and Church & Dwight. Additional smaller disposals included shares of Boeing, Home Depot, T-Mobile, Datadog, Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks and Nvidia.
Beyond publicly traded stocks, Trump's disclosure highlighted a significant investment in Elon Musk's SpaceX.
His accounts purchased between $1 million and $5 million in senior unsecured notes issued by the aerospace company. The debt securities offer a 5.35% interest rate and mature in July 2031.
The latest purchase follows smaller SpaceX investments disclosed earlier this summer. Trump reported acquiring between $15,001 and $50,000 in SpaceX shares during both June and July, alongside a July sale valued between $1,001 and $15,000.
The financial disclosure provides additional insight into Trump's investment portfolio, highlighting substantial exposure to technology, energy, telecommunications and aerospace companies through both equity and debt holdings.
