George R.R. Martin's fans have been having a hard time waiting for the release of “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book in the celebrated author's series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Martin has promised that while “The Winds of Winter” is his current priority, it will not be released prior to the Targaryen-focused “Fire & Blood.”
While fans tend to hound the author in every possible moment they can, or even question Martin's ability to finish his sixth novel, there are other ways that fans can spend the time loving “A Song of Ice and Fire” beyond asking Martin if he is going to die before he can finish “The Winds of Winter.”
Martin has already released excerpts of certain chapters from “The Winds of Winter” over the years. Some of the releases have been through his old blog, and there are even chapters that were simply read at conventions. For anyone willing to take the ultimate dive of spoiling themselves on unfinished chapters because they just can't wait to read “The Winds of Winter,” the moderators of the r/ASOIAF subreddit have compiled (WARNING: LOTS OF SPOILERS) the transcripts, screenshots and notes all relating to “The Winds of Winter's” release.
And speaking of Reddit, the content sharing site is a hotbed of speculation and sharing for the community that any die-hard member of a fanbase can appreciate. Just a couple of days ago, u/BryndenBFish, posted a very detailed speculative piece on what could potentially be expected from “The Winds of Winter” based on information from the “The Princess and The Queen” novella. If fans are the more contributing type, maybe a “The Winds of Winter” conspiracy thread would be more to their liking. And of course, no community based on a popular work with graphic amounts of violence is complete without its own dead pool.
Fans have been dissecting so much of Martin's work that “Fire & Blood” is definitely going to be adding more material into the fray of speculations and predictions when it comes out in the latter end of 2018. If Martin doesn't come up with “The Winds of Winter” anytime soon, fans can be assured that others in the community can find some way to create more material they can enjoy during the wait.
