'The Winds of Winter’ Release Date Rumors: George RR Martin Reveals Important Update About The Sixth 'ASOIAF' Book

Fans are waiting for “The Winds of Winter” novel by George RR Martin but there is no announcement yet when it will be released despite years of wait. Previously, there were rumors that the 70-year-old author has completed the last two books in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series but he is holding them due to an agreement that states “Game of Thrones” should be finished first before they could publish the books.

The rumor shocked many fans because they have been waiting for years and now they were saying that “The Winds of Winter” is actually complete already but being kept a secret to give way to HBO’s hit TV series. It all began when someone posted the interview with Ian McElhinney, an Irish actor who is also part of “GoT,” online. In the clip, he said that the sixth and final book in the “ASOIF” is done but it may take time for Martin to announce it as he needs to wait for the conclusion of “Game of Thrones.”

Then again, his statements contradicted what Martin told Entertainment Tonight last month. In his interview during the “GoT” premiere, he said that he has no date yet for the publishing of “The Winds of Winter.” When prodded to give a date, the author stated he does not want to disappoint fans anymore so he refused to say even a date estimate.

“I have no date,” Martin said. “I’ve given up giving dates because I give one and then I miss it and everyone gets mad.”

In a new update, George RR Martin addressed the latest rumor about secretly finishing the “The Winds of Winter” and not saying anything about it. Through his blog, the author personally debunked the reports that he is ready to publish “TWOW” and “A Dream of Spring” by calling the “internet journalism an oxymoron.”

“I will, however, say for the record — no, ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER’ and ‘A DREAM OF SPRING’ are not finished. DREAM is not even begun; I am not going to start writing volume seven until I finish volume six,” he wrote. “It seems absurd to me that I need to state this.”
