‘The Winds of Winter’ News: Can Fans Anticipate a 2019 Release Date? George RR Martin Hints at ‘TWOW’ Ending

George RR Martin

“The Winds of Winter” may be up next as “Game of Thrones” premiere for its final run is fast approaching. The sixth book in George RR Martin's “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series was already in the making since 2007 but until now, it is not in the bookstores yet. Can the fans anticipate a 2019 release date?

According to Express, there is a possibility that “The Winds of Winter” is coming out before 2019 ends. This is because its author, George RR Martin, repeatedly declared that he is focusing on the novel now and releasing it soon is his top priority. He knows that this is what his fans want so he vowed that they will have it soon enough.

George RR Martin also declined invitations to appear in major events just so he could remain focus on “The Winds of Winter” so his efforts should show good results by now. He might have progressed greatly in writing “TWOW” since he dropped his other activities to complete it.

The author revealed that “The Winds of Winter” is not simple to write and this is one of the reasons for the delays. In any case, one thing is sure, “The Winds of Winter” is not coming until “Game of Thrones” concludes in the coming months.

To compensate a bit for his failure to launch “The Winds of Winter” on time, George RR Martin shared major spoilers regarding how the story of “TWOW” will end. The 70-year-old author said that based on the completed chapters of the novel, the story

will begin with two major battles taking place and these are the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen (Battle of Slaver’s Bay).

Lastly, George RR Martin revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the story of “The Winds of Winter” will feature a grim conclusion. "I’ve been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming, he said. “Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for.”
