When it was announced that a “The Promised Neverland” anime was in the works, it elicited a reaction of skepticism among manga readers. Could a series about child murders really be allowed to air? As it turns out, this might just be the case, and the first teaser was just released. It might even beat out “Goblin Slayer” for the edgiest anime spot.
The teaser is in Japanese and was shared on Twitter by a fan. However, it’s easy to infer what message is being shared for those who have already read the manga. To start with, it’s worth pointing out that “The Promised Neverland” is not for the faint of heart. While the anime is not guaranteed to be as explicit as the graphic novels, there will still be depictions of dead children.

Of course, this is not the first time that an animated TV show has shown the death of children as part of the story. However, “The Promised Neverland” is explicitly about the children being murdered and their fight for survival against all odds. What’s more, the children are not just being killed but are actually being bred as livestock for monsters.
By the end of the teaser, listeners will be treated to a scream of despair coming from the show’s main protagonist, and that’s just a taste of what’s to come. Interested viewers are being warned right now that “The Promised Neverland” is not a show with a lot of bright spots. Once the truth behind the characters’ situation is revealed, there will never be a moment of peace for everyone ever again.
“The Promised Neverland” is expected to air on January 2019, Comic Book reports. The first season of the anime will be all about escaping the clutches of those who are pretending to be their caretakers. Viewers can expect gut-wrenching scenes, plenty of tense moments, and scenes of dead children.
