Some ‘Star Wars’ stories have already become reality 
After two years of waiting, fans might have gotten their first clue on “The OA” season 2’s release date. A social media post from series co-creator and leading cast member Brit Marling suggests that show could return this year.
Marling’s latest post on Instagram, as of this writing, is composed of two photos — one is a picture of her while working that was taken by series co-creator Zal Batmanglij and another is her to-do list. The latter presumably shows Marling’s immediate tasks related to the production of “The OA” season 2.
Some items in the said to-do list are already checked such as the tasks to “playback [chapter] 7 sound mix” as well as reviewing the video effects for “chapter 8.” Marling also confirmed that these tasks are related to the making of “The OA” season 2 in the caption as she wrote, “I'm trying to focus on my to-do list to get y'all this Part II.”
RadioTimes pointed out that these tasks are obviously carried out during show or movie's post-production phase. This could mean that the filming of “The OA” season 2 has already concluded.
Fans can also read the words “revisions” and “key art” that, as RadioTimes suggested, could also mean “The OA” season 2 is in the latter parts of post-production. In this case, there is a huge chance for the show to be released before 2019 ended.
The show premiered on Netflix in December 2016 and was renewed a couple of months later. Fans had hoped for a much earlier release date Marling explained last November why it was impossible. Since they have no written source material for “The OA” season 2, it meant they needed to write from scratch for the new episodes.
Marling is the series co-creator and plays the titular role at the same time. It meant they had to finish all the writing tasks first before going into production for “The OA” season 2 that commenced in early 2018.
