One certain thing that is happening in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6 is further analysis of the mysterious medieval cross found last season. Before the show returns, here are the latest updates about the artifact.

For a recap, the Lagina brothers unearthed a cross in season 5 that is believed to be made of lead and could date back to 1200 to 1600 AD. Judging by the design of the cross, which features a loop on its top part, it was immediately speculated to be linked to the Knights Templar. And in previous interviews, the cast and the producer of the show confirmed that the artifact will be featured in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6.

To see if the cross could actually be linked to the Knights Templar, executive producer Kevin Burns confirmed that they have started testing and analysis of the said cross found in Smith’s Cove in Nova Scotia. Without giving away much detail, Burns revealed that it is possibly 600 years old or more. It is likely that the all the testing results will be discussed in one of the episodes of “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6.

Meanwhile, the cross could also give “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6 a chance to have a crossover episode with “Ancient Aliens.” When asked about this possibility, Burns told Monsters & Critics in April that nothing is definite about it yet but they are open to exploring overlapping theories encountered by the two shows.

Burns recalled that the concept of making the Lagina brothers’ show came up after they explored the theory that the Ark of the Covenant may have been hidden in the Oak Island’s Money Pit by the Knights Templar. And the cross in question could be one of the key puzzle pieces to support this theory, which would certainly make an interesting episode in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6.

“Some have dated it to as old as 900 AD, some have said 1300 AD, and if it is in that neighborhood, it could very well have been left behind by a Templar,” Burns explained. The cross can then prove that the Knights Templar arrived in North America even before Christopher Columbus.

Meanwhile, the specific premiere date for “The Curse of Oak Island” season 6 is still unknown. But Starcasm recently reported that rumblings within the production crew suggest that the show will return sometime in November.
