The popularity of “Overwatch” has not shown any signs of depreciating anytime soon and a big part of this is due to the 100 or so employees at the “Overwatch Team.” These folks ensure that players will have the best experience in the game and that the title keeps getting the attention that it deserves. Speaking of deserved attention, it would seem that two heroes are getting the least amount of love in terms of “Play of the Game” (PotG).
“Overwatch” is a huge project, which means that it requires a lot of people to make sure that it keeps running perfectly. Most people would just make that assumption, accept it, and move on. However, one Battle.net users named “Lackofname” decided to ask the team directly and game director Jeff Kaplan provided the answers, PC Gamer reports.
“The Overwatch Team (internally at Blizzard we are called 'Team 4') is comprised of about 100 developers at this point,” Kaplan wrote on the Battle.net forum. “The disciplines who comprise the team are Audio, Art, Engineering, Production, and Design. We also have two full-time Business Operations people and an esports director who are part of the team.”
Kaplan wrote a heck of a lot more than that with his post, really going through the details about the team and its various functions. He even discussed the other teams outside of “Team 4” that provided them with the assistance that they really needed.
In related news, Kotaku tried to look into the issue of the “PotG” feature of “Overwatch,” where particularly dazzling maneuvers or amazing assistance rendered are expected to be put on display. This is mostly to give players something to be proud of.
However, more often than not, it’s the players who are using the right characters that are getting the most praise. Gamers who choose “Mercy,” “Bastion,” Torbjorn,” and “Reaper” are the most likely to get featured during the PotG highlights. The least likely to get some love are “Ana” and “Lucio,” who are not exactly the most exciting or most explosive heroes in the game.
