A recently revealed news will delight automobile fans who have been looking forward to Tesla’s crossover SUV offering, the Model Y. The company confirmed that they have moved up the vehicle’s target delivery period at an earlier window in 2020.
Tesla Model Y release date: Electric crossover arrives earlier than expected
Tesla Model Y is going to be the company’s crossover SUV offering, and consumers who prefer this type of vehicle and want to ditch gasoline-powered cars have been looking forward to it since its announcement in 2017. On the bright side, customers who have already placed an order is now slated to receive the all-electric vehicle some months earlier than they expected.
In a Q3 2019 update to investors, Tesla confirmed that the opening of Gigafactory Shanghai and it being “ahead of schedule” greatly helped in the positive adjustment of its production timeline. The document indicates that the delivery of Tesla Model Y is now slated to begin sometime in summer 2020. It can be recalled in March that the company announced a late 2020 release date window for the electric crossover SUV.
Tesla Model Y is also expected to boost the company’s revenue growth in the coming year, per Tesla’s presentation to investors in Q3’2019. Meanwhile, Tesla is also looking to further speed up its Model Y production through the opening of another Gigafactory. “We are in the final stages of our site selection process. Our European Gigafactory is expected to produce both Model 3 and Model Y,” Tesla reported.
