The default way to use the Switch in TV Mode is to slide the portable body into the docking platform. Unfortunately, there are many units in the hands of gamers that are scratched or broken. Some were damaged by the gamers but others arrived in defective conditions. Whatever the case, the point is that these units can’t be docked, which makes TV Mode tricky. Thanks to the efforts of a YouTuber, a fix was found.
Adam Schwartz is the YouTuber in question and his solution involves a collection of USB-C cables that aren’t exactly part of the Switch package. The video does a pretty good job of going through this solution in order to make it viable and safe, Polygon reports, with the presence of the Hori Compact Playstand making everything so much easier. This item is available at Amazon for as little as $13.
In any case, this is one of the first viable solutions to a problem that a lot of Switch owners have had to deal with. For fear of scratching the screens of their units, a lot of gamers don’t dock their consoles anymore, which takes a significant part of the enjoyment out of the experience. The video takes all of 2 minutes and 32 seconds to watch, so it’s a pretty simple setup as well.
On that note, a lot of people are criticizing this method, with the video’s comments section being flooded by people who either think it’s unnecessary or is unsafe. A user named “Jon Berry” went out of his way to point out that the use of the USB-C cable could not only damage the port, it could even cause a fire hazard. It would appear that his opinion came by way of one Benson Leung, who is known as a reputable source of information among techies.
