Suzy Bae, or more popularly known as Suzy, has made headlines this week following a major change in her career. She is leaving JYP Entertainment and will reportedly join the same agency as “Train to Busan” star Gong Yoo, the SOOP Management.
JYP Entertainment confirmed that Suzy's “exclusive contract” with them will expire this month. In a statement (via The Korea Herald), the agency also announced that the K-Pop star is unlikely signing a new deal with them.
Suzy has been with the JYP Entertainment for the past nine years. She started as a member of the South Korean girl group miss A in 2010. The talent agency has nothing but great words for the star and said, “Suzy has worked harder than anyone under JYP ... JYP will cheer for the path Suzy will go in the future with all its heart although its official ties with her ended.”
As the news of her JYP Entertainment exit spread, so is the rumor that she will be joining SOOP Management. However, the same news source was told that the latter has yet to reach a final deal with Suzy. “We have not reached a condition of signing a contract with Suzy and details are under discussion,” SOOP said in its own statement.
Aside from being part of miss A, Suzy has also become popular after starring in various TV and movie projects. Her latest TV series is called “While You Were Sleeping” that aired on SBS from September to November 2017. She played the role of Hong-Joo Nam, a news reporter who was having visions of real-life crime scenes and accidents in her dreams.
Suzy has started filming for a new SBS series called “Vagabond” before the news of her JYP Entertainment exit came to light. She will play as a National Intelligence Service agent named Hae-Ri Go. The new series is slated to premiere on May 8 in South Korea.
