Although Microsoft is yet to officially announce the Surface Book 3 release date, many expect the company to launch the gadget in 2020. Here’s what tech watchers believe the upcoming high-end laptop could have.
Improved Graphics
Previous models have been known for their powerful graphics capabilities. The upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 3 won’t disappoint in this area either.
According to Digital Trends, the laptop will likely feature a more powerful Nvidia GPU such as the RTX 2060 for the 15-inch. This would make the high-end laptop the ideal gaming device as it will be able to seamlessly handle AR/VR content.
“Across the board, Surface Book laptops are GPU-heavy and I think in the future you’ll see us continue to do more of that,” Microsoft Surface engineer Pavan Davuluri told The Verge.
However, upgrading to a more powerful Nvidia GPU might jack up the Surface Book 3 price which is not such a good idea considering that the product line is already at the higher end of the price range. Microsoft will also need to improve the cooling components of the laptop so it’ll be able to handle the expected increased heat generated.
Upgraded Processors, storage and RAM
Surface Book 3 is expected to have top of the line processors as well. Digital Trends speculates that it could be packed with Intel’s Ice Lake processors since they have already been used in other Microsoft products such as the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3. Another possible processor choice would be the 10th-gen Comet Lake chips.
The current Surface Book 2 is already good with its 16GB of Ram and 1TB of SSD storage. But Microsoft could still go beyond this since some high-end laptops already have better specs than these.
Detachable Keyboard
Meanwhile, Tech Radar suggested that the upcoming Surface Book 3 might arrive with a radical new design. For instance, it might detachable keyboard with a back panel that can be used for sketching using a stylus.
Surface Book 3 Release Date Prediction
At the moment, Microsoft has not yet officially announced a Surface Book 3 launch date. However, most tech insiders believe that it is long overdue and that it’s likely to be released in 2020.
