The announcement for “Steven Universe” season 6 is taking a long time, but fans should not be worried because the show’s producers already mentioned in previous interviews that it is still happening. The thing is, the show is just delayed, and there are many reasons why this is the case.
Although Rebecca Sugar or the other members of the production crew of “Steven Universe” season 6 are not saying anything about the delay, it is possible that the “Steven Universe: The Movie” is one of the causes for the hold-up. The movie is set to be released in the latter part of this year, so everyone is probably busy preparing for the premiere.
Confirmation for the sixth installment
As mentioned, there is no formal announcement yet for the renewal of “Steven Universe” season 6, but Rebecca Sugar said in an interview early this year that they are working on the next chapters that will follow season 5’s finale titled “Change Your Mind.” In fact, she also revealed some spoilers, so it is sure to arrive soon.
In the podcast, former “Steven Universe” executive producer Ian Jones-Quartey was also there, and he shared that there will be lots of changes when “Steven Universe” season 6 returns. This is especially true with Steven, who will grow up and mature as he comes to understand more about himself and his origins.
What to expect in the next chapters
“Steven Universe” season 6 will continue from the time after Steven discovered that he is a Pink Diamond in season 5’s final episode. This will made him realize a lot of things and will eventually change his outlook in life.
“The thing about Steven Universe is that it’s a coming of age story and this is something that he had to figure out in order to start making decisions for himself,” Jones-Quartey revealed in the podcast. “He (Steven) can’t be distracted by any sort of ‘supposed to.’ It doesn’t exist for him now and he realized that doesn’t have to be what other people want or expect him to be.”
In short, Steven has matured in “Steven Universe” season 6, and he will enjoy life as he wants to live it. He will be more independent in many ways and will likely make his own decisions from now on.
