The renewal or cancellation of “Steven Universe” season 6 is still hanging in the balance with the lack of official updates from Cartoon Network and its producers. However, most fans are confident that the animated franchise will have more stories to tell.
There is no doubt that the animated show, created by Rebecca Sugar, is one of the most popular titles in Cartoon Network’s programme. While the latest episode, “Change Your Mind,” seemed like a satisfying ending to some viewers, there are several indications that “Steven Universe” season 6 will most likely happen in the future.
However, it is possible that Cartoon Network would like the fans’ attention to be focused on the upcoming feature film simply titled “Steven Universe: The Movie.” It was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2018 and is slated to premiere in fall. For marketing reasons, it would make sense if the company would hold off on any “Steven Universe” season 6-related information so fans are all eyes on to the upcoming film.
Meanwhile, an interesting suggestion about “Steven Universe” season 6 is making rounds on Reddit. The fan theory is ultimately hoping that the franchise will continue in the future, however, it might not be labeled “Steven Universe” season 6. This means that Cartoon Network is speculated to “rebrand” or reset the series.
A previous interview with Den of Geek with Sugar and executive producer Ian Jones-Quartey seemingly confirmed this theory about, technically, not having “Steven Universe” season 6. Both of them said that beyond season 5 “everything will be different” in the series.
Without mentioning “Steven Universe” season 6, Jones-Quartey seemingly confirmed that the series will continue in the future. “Don't think of the break between ‘Change Your Mind’ and what comes next, as like, you're waiting for more of THIS show, because this version of it is done, there's going to be more, but it's going to be different and it's going to be something new,” the EP advised fans.
