“Steven Universe” season 6 is not confirmed yet and so far, either Rebecca Sugar or Cartoon Network is saying something about it. While fans are anticipating this already, it seems they still have to wait some more to know if the animated series is getting a renewal order or not.
Now, the lack of renewal or cancellation update for “Steven Universe” season 6, is causing confusion among the fans. While there are people who are waiting patiently, some believed that the sixth installment is not in the cards anymore.
Moreover, the Steven Universe fandom pointed out that since “Steven Universe” season 6 is not yet renewed, its production has not started yet as well. What led for people to think that it is not coming for new episodes was the promo video that was aired in the previous season 5’s finale called "Battle of the Heart and Mind.”
At the end of the finale, the trailer for “Steven Universe: The Movie” was shown instead of a preview for “Steven Universe” season 6. This caused confusion, with many thinking that Rebecca Sugar decided to replace the sixth with the film version.
Then again, fans should calm down because “Steven Universe” season 6 is likely to arrive because series creator Rebecca Sugar already dropped a hint that it will be back. She also made it clear that “Steven Universe: The Movie” is a separate project and will not serve as a replacement for new episodes.
Den of Geek reported that in a podcast, Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey, former executive producer of the show, revealed that season 5’s finale’s “Change Your Mind” will have a continuation. The two also shared that “Steven Universe” season 6 will be different because it will show a more mature Steven.
“I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this specific arc of Steven, 'Change Your Mind' definitively makes a definitive statement on Steven and who he is and what he thinks he is,” Jones-Quartey shared. “And how he feels about it. And moving forward from now, it's going to be different.”
“Steven Universe” season 6 has no premiere date yet. It is likely to arrive after “Steven Universe: The Movie” is released in theaters.
