Fan backlash over “The Last Jedi's” decision to have Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) confirm the true nature of Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parents has been so unwelcome that fans that are not on board with the idea of Rey's parents being nobodies are clamoring for “Star Wars 9” to fix the perceived mistake. With “Star Wars 9” currently in production, a recent leak may give disappointed fans exactly what they want.
In a report by Express, a concept art description for a “Star Wars 9” scene involves a potential flashback with a young Rey. The scene's description has an old man in brown robes and a hood holding Rey's hand and hugging her before hopping on his speeder and leaving the young girl behind in Jakku.
Descriptions of the older man who may have links to Rey's past has him being clean-shaven and brown-haired with a ponytail. This tidbit about a potentially important figure to Rey's past in “Star Wars 9” has fans speculating about currently available characters that could be tied to the man's description.
In addition, the man's description fits into the usual depiction of Jedi in the franchise, which can support the fact that Rey is a very powerful force-sensitive. If the leak is an actual scene that “Star Wars 9” will pursue, fans that are angry about the “The Last Jedi” reveal would be delighted to be able to prove Kylo Ren wrong.
Considering that the leak has been sourced from concept art descriptions, more solid confirmation of the potential plot point may be found as “Star Wars 9” continues its production. Fans looking forward to the final installment of the beloved franchises latest trilogy can look forward to “Star Wars 9” when it is released to much anticipation on Dec. 20, 2019.
