The event kicks off with a special appearance by longtime Food Network host and culinary guru Alton Brown, and other familiar faces will feature prominently throughout the day, including Hannah Hart, YouTube star and host of Food Network’s I Hart Food, and Hannah Bronfman, founder of online health, beauty and fitness community HBFIT.
“We founded Spoon University so that young people could connect to the world of food, and Brainfood offers a real-world food experience that is fun, informative and thought-provoking all at once,” said Mackenzie Barth, Co-Founder, Spoon University. “It’s the best place to hear how the worlds of food, tech and culture are colliding every day.”
“Brainfood brings food lovers together to talk about everything from marketing and sustainability to entrepreneurship and how to make a career in the food industry,” said Sarah Adler, Co-Founder, Spoon University. “We’ve assembled an incredible lineup this year, and everyone who joins us will get a wide-ranging glimpse not just at today’s food industry, but at the food industry of the future.”
Sponsored by Handsome Brook Farms and RXBAR, Brainfood 2017 will showcase people from across the food industry, including Food Network, Whole Foods Market, Pepsi, Baked by Melissa and BuzzFeed, in a variety of panel discussions. Session topics include: “Building a Brand in Food Media”; “How to Break Into the Food Industry”; “From the Experts: Things You Probably Don’t Know”; “How Legacy Food Companies Stay Ahead of the Game”; “Building a Company That Has a Positive Impact on the World”; and more. Panelists range from startup founders and recipe developers to authors and museum directors, with a mix of representatives from both young food brands and some of the most established brands in the business.
In a nod to the aspirations of many of its attendees, Brainfood 2017 will also play host to a career corner where guests can network with recruiters from top names in the food industry like Food Network, Cooking Channel, Hillstone, Dig Inn, Scripps Lifestyle Studios, Whole Foods Market and more. In addition to information about open jobs and internships, guests will get a chance to learn about the culture and values that make these companies tick, and WayUp, the go-to platform for early-career professionals looking to explore opportunities and get discovered by employers, will be on hand taking headshots.
No Spoon University event is complete without food, and Brainfood will be chock full of some of New York’s trendiest offerings. On-site vendors include Ample Hills Creamery, Avocaderia, Awake Chocolate, Big Mozz, Bou, Brodo, DO, Drink Maple, Fatty Sundays, Hampton Creek, Handsome Brook Farms, Harmless Harvest, Hippeas, Hot Bread Kitchen, Jars by Dani, John’s Juice, Kombrewcha, Koppert Cress, Mister Dips, Nona Lim, Nuttzo, PieShell, Pop Pasta, P.S.
