A South Korean developer has created history by recording the details of the recent peace treaty between North and South Korea on the Ethereum blockchain.
On April 27, 2018, President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea held an Inter-Korean Summit Meeting at the ‘Peace House’ at Panmunjeom. The two leaders signed the Panmunjom Declaration for peace, prosperity, and unification of the Korean peninsula.
Ryu Gi-hyeok, 27, has coded and recorded the peace treaty in both Korean and English versions in two Ethereum transactions, CoinDesk reported.
“I just thought it took too long for the South and the North to give way to each other ... After finding out what I could contribute to this historic achievement as a developer, I found the Panmunjom Declaration on the Blue House homepage and recorded it on Ethereum,” Ryu told CoinDesk Korea.
Ryu is also planning to launch a web portal with the objective of keeping all historic records permanent and immutable" on a blockchain.
