“ARK: Survival Evolved” has had its fair share of controversy, but it seemed to be on a good track to both becoming a full-fledged game and transitioning over to consoles. The beta is already available on both the PC and the “Xbox One,” though many are complaining about issues with the console version, which is likely the reason why Sony has not green-lit the “PlayStation 4” version.
As a post on the game’s official website reveals, Sony does not want “ARK: Survival Evolved” anywhere near the “PS4” until the developers turn the beta into a full game.
“As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony,” the post reads. “We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.”
The game is incredibly popular among PC-gamers, Lazygamer notes, despite the fact that it isn’t even finished yet. By taking a lot of what works in the survival genre and combining them seamlessly to create an environment that is equal parts fun and tense, the folks over at “Studio Wildcard” seem to have a potential gold mine on their hands.
Then again, the “Xbox One” version of the game does come with certain problems, framerate issues being one of the most concerning. At some point, the console version even dropped to 14fps, according to tests conducted, which is considered ridiculous by modern gaming standards. Right now, it’s safe to say that “PS4” owners will have to wait until the developers fix all the bugs and produce a full-fledged title before they can try their hand at the game on their console.
