It has been a year since Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo — a.k.a. the Song-Song couple — got married. While they are both slated to appear in new TV shows, their fans will be seeing them with different on-screen partners this time.
Song Joong Ki will lead the cast of the upcoming tvN show titled “Asadal Chronicles.” Notably, this is his first main cast TV role since the worldwide hit “Descendants of the Sun” where his relationship with Song Hye Kyo started.
While Song Hye Kyo will not be in the same series, Song Joong Ki will be working with a familiar face — Kim Ji Won, who was also a regular cast member in “Descendants of the Sun.” Nothing much has been reported about the making of “Asadal Chronicles” apart from the first script reading session that happened last August.
Song Joong Ki’s upcoming show on tvN is expected to premiere within the first half of 2019 so filming should be right around the corner. Song Hye Kyo’s husband will play the role of Eun Seom described as a cursed child who becomes the leader of city of Asadal. Kim Ji Won’s character named Tan Ya appears to be Song Joong Ki’s love interest.
Song Hye Kyo also has an upcoming show on tvN called “Encounter.” Like Song Joong Ki, this is also her first TV project following their KBS series where she played as a doctor who fell in love with a soldier portrayed by her real-life husband.
Soompi shared the first teaser poster for “Encounter” and reveals its Nov. 28 release date. Song Hye Kyo will co-star with Park Bo Gum in this romantic series. The actors will play the roles of Cha Soo Hyun and Kim Jin Hyuk, respectively, who will fall in love with one another “in an unfamiliar place through a chance encounter.”
