ShotSpotter to Lead Discussion at IACP 2017 on Social Impact of Persistent Gunfire

NEWARK, Calif. and PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 11, 2017 -- ShotSpotter, the global leader in gunfire detection and location technology, today announced it will sponsor and lead a high-level panel on “The Social Impact of Persistent Gunfire” at the International Association of Police Chiefs (IACP) 2017 conference, held October 21–24 in Philadelphia.  At the conference, ShotSpotter will also exhibit its range of gunfire detection and location solutions in Booth #1113.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Ron Teachman, ShotSpotter’s Director of Public Safety Solutions, and will include law enforcement leaders hailing from Cincinnati, Louisville, Hartford and Chicago. The session will be held Monday, October 23, at 11:00 am, in the Solutions Theatre #825. The panelists will share best practices to address persistent gunfire, drawing on their own experiences with the economic, social and financial consequences of ongoing gun violence in their cities.

“This panel will be an excellent overview and starting point for attendees seeking practical solutions to address the threat of persistent urban gunfire,” said Teachman. “The speakers have firsthand experience and will offer specific strategies and an explanation of technology solutions that have proven successful in their own communities.”   

Teachman, the moderator, has spent 38 years in law enforcement before joining ShotSpotter. Prior to ShotSpotter, he served as Chief of Police in South Bend, Indiana and before that in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He also worked for The Emergence Group, a Washington, D.C. based company specializing in criminal justice reform in post-conflict and emerging nations.
