With total holdings of around 294,000 ETH, SharpLink Gaming has overtaken the Ethereum Foundation to become the largest publicly known holder of Ethereum (ETH) worldwide. Following a very aggressive buying binge on July 14, 2025, SharpLink bought over 63,000 ETH in a single day, including a major direct buy of 10,000 ETH from the Ethereum Foundation. Over the past five days, SharpLink has garnered more than 60,000 ETH via several sources, including OTC purchases, at a total outlay of around $180 million.
SharpLink presently holds over $720 million, with an average cost per ETH of roughly $2,667, for an unfulfilled profit of over $81 million. Backing a $425 million private placement, this strategic accumulation is part of a treasury strategy launched in May 2025 that positions ETH as its major reserve asset. Reflecting great investor faith in its Ethereum-focused strategy, the company's stock (SBET) has responded positively, registering significant increases.
SharpLink's fierce ETH accumulation has caused ripples throughout the crypto community, therefore initiating debates about whether other corporate businesses may be employing comparable tactics. Their repeated statement, "Ethereum isn't part of our strategy, it is our strategy," emphasizes a long-term dedication to ETH as a basic financial layer. Strong ETH price increase, further corroborated by historic institutional ETF inflows, has also coincided with this buying activity, hence confirming SharpLink's leadership in the Ethereum ecosystem.
