Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) is not a a good man who has consistently shown through the past eight seasons that he has never really cared for anyone else but himself. But now, it seems that Frank is enamored by someone he meets at the hospital and decides to pursue her in “Shameless” season 9 episode 6. Is this possibly a change of heart for the self-absorbed Gallagher?
It seems fans might be patting Frank on the back a little too early. Fans may remember that Frank met Ingrid Jones (Katey Sagal) in the last episode when she was brought in as a patient in need of psychiatric care. It seems Frank sees a sort of connection between him and the allegedly “crazy” Jones, which fuels his infatuation with her in “Shameless” season 9 episode 6.
The “Shameless” season 9 episode 6 preview trailer shows Frank definitely decided on pursuing Ingrid, culminating in a scene where he stops her from closing her front door even after what appears to a scene where he is asked to leave. Frank's infatuation with Jones is confirmed to definitely be because Frank sees himself and Ingrid as screw-ups due to being crazy.
Fans may hope that the connection perceived by Frank between him and Ingrid can make him a better person. But knowing Frank Gallagher, he would probably break that notion the moment “Shameless” season 9 episode 6 starts. It wouldn't take long for Frank to be disappointed by the reality of who Ingrid truly is as a person before he moves on to the next self-serving activity that stimulates him.
Fans looking forward to seeing how Frank will manage to nab Ingrid – or watch the aftermath as he crashes and burns – can catch “Shameless” season 9 episode 6 when it airs on Oct. 14.
