‘Shadowhunters’ season 2’s episode 2, titled "A Door Into the Dark," is set to follow Alec and Isabelle as they attempt to reach Jace before the others following Clave’s “shoot to kill” order. Meanwhile, Clary struggles with fitting into the Shadowhunter world.
The synopsis for “A Door Into the Dark” posted on TV Guide reads, “Alec (Matthew Daddario) and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) race to find Jace (Dominic Sherwood) before the other Shadowhunters locate and kill him.
Meanwhile, Simon (Alberto Rosende) seeks Magnus' (Harry Shum Jr.) help when he finds himself at odds with Raphael (David Castro) and Aldertree (Nick Sagar); and Clary (Katherine MacNamara) struggles to fit in while longing for her old, mundane life.”
The hunt is on for Jace after Clave gives out a “shoot to kill” order. Jace and Isabella attempt to find him before the other Shadowhunters do.
Simon also searches for Magnus to ask for help in dealing with both Raphael and Aldertree and Clary struggles to find her place in the Shadowhunter world since she doesn’t seem to fit in.
It seems that the new season of the fantasy series based on Cassandra Clare’s young adult novels ‘The Mortal Instruments’ has taken on a darker tone compared to the first season. During an interview with TV Fanatic, executives Todd Slavkin and David Swimmer admitted that the series’ look and feel will be much different. Swimmer revealed that season 2 has "a little bit more grit, a little bit more texture, and darkness to the series."
During a separate interview with ScreenSpy, Slavkin revealed that he and Swimmer hoped to make the series “cooler.” He said, “That comes from adding more emotion to the show, deepening the characters in the show, making the world bigger, the stunts are cooler, the visual FX are cooler, sets are bigger, New York City is all over the show. We’re just trying to add richness and texture to something that was already great.”
The television adaptation follows main protagonist Clary Fray, a seemingly normal girl in New York City. She then discovers she is a human-angel hybrid with powers to fight demons, called a “Shadowhunter.” She is accompanied by other Shadowhunters namely the Lightwood siblings Alec and Isabelle as well as her best friend Simon.
‘Shadowhunters’ season 2’s episode 2, titled "A Door Into the Dark," is scheduled to air on Freeform on January 9, 2017. It will be followed by episode 3, titled "Parabatai Lost," scheduled for January 16.
