LAS VEGAS, Jan. 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sensoria Inc., a world leader in the development of IoT enabled garments, is proud to announce a new collaboration with Microsoft Corp. to develop a Microsoft Azure cloud-based solution, that helps soccer teams to collect players’ biometric data and track movements by utilizing smart garments. The system will monitor heart rate, accelerations, decelerations, passes and shots, and also track the movements of the player on the field using Sensoria’s smart footwear and clothing.
This first application showcases the capabilities of the new Sensoria Core embeddable electronics. The electronics collects data from proprietary pressure sensors located in a soccer boot, uses best of breed, ultra-low power system on a chip, and also boasts a 9-axis MEMS sensor to collect and store data about each player’s movements during a game.
This data will then be processed by the Sensoria Cloud powered by Azure and displayed via Microsoft Soccer Dashboard powered by Sensoria, which will compile the data and turn it into insights thanks to easily digestible charts and graphs such as:
- A heat map of the field showing player movements on the field
- A heat map of a player’s shoes showing the distribution of shots and passes
- Data charts and gauges related to biometric data collected during the game
- Charts showing team-related stats, determined by correlating individual players telemetry
According to Davide Vigano, Cofounder and CEO of Sensoria, “The current technology available on the market is bulky and often very expensive, and the data is locked in data silos. With the new Sensoria Core we’re offering sports apparel brands and teams a seamless and embeddable smart footwear and garment solution which is powerful, IoT connected and yet affordable. The Microsoft Soccer Dashboard will make it easier for coaches and scouts to equip each junior team’s player and make it easier for them to find the next Cristiano Ronaldo."
“The world of sports is being disrupted through advancements fueled from cloud-connected IoT garments which are driving a complete re-thinking of all aspects of the business, including player selection, training, performance improvement and fan engagement. We are happy to partner with Sensoria to democratize and empower professional and junior teams with actionable information,” said Steven Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President of Developer Platform & Evangelism and Chief Evangelist for Microsoft.
Sensoria will be demonstrating the Microsoft Soccer Dashboard at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Showcase. For more information, stop by Sensoria’s booth at the Sands Expo in Tech West #74100 or visit www.sensoriafitness.com.
