Unauthorized activity on McDonald's network exposed the personal data of customers in South Korea and Taiwan, making the fast-food giant the latest company to be hit by a data breach.
McDonald's claimed it quickly identified and contained the breach and has conducted a thorough investigation that determined that few files were accessed, some containing personal data from South Korea and Taiwan.
It added that they would notify regulators and customers who may be impacted and assured that customer payment information was not exposed.
McDonald's said it check the investigation's findings and input from security resources to identify ways to enhance its security measures.
Cybercriminals have been targetting businesses across various sectors, including JBS SA, the world’s largest meat processing company, and Colonial Pipeline, which transports about half of the fuel consumed on the US east coast.
