Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be busy in the coming months as they’re slated to film the fifth season of “Outlander.” Right now, it’s been revealed that the show is in pre-production as the writers are hard at work in plotting the story moving forward.
The latest finale of “Outlander” saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) being placed in a difficult situation as he’s been tasked with capturing and killing his godfather, Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix). Of course, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will be at the side of Jamie, supporting her husband while trying to find a way to appease each faction without bloodshed, Celebrity Insider reported.
This solidarity also translates behind the scenes where the cast is constantly supporting each other. John Bell, who plays Young Ian in the series, recently spoke with Parade and shared his thoughts regarding his co-stars, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.
Bell said that it’s refreshing to work with the pair as their energy is a mix of intense work and laid back attitude on set. “I love them. I think Caitriona and Sam are the best co-stars I could ask for. Anything I need, any help, any issues, I go to Caitriona [Balfe] and Sam [Heughan] and I say, ‘How would I deal with this? How would I word this?’ From the moment I started the show, you know? So, that’s how I see them.”
For their part, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have previously said that working on the show is such a blessing. They also revealed that as the main headliners of “Outlander,” they’re constantly supporting each other and have been doing so since day one.
As for what fans can expect in the fifth installment of the series, Sam Heughan said that most of the effort of Jamie and Claire will not have a powerful impact in history. The American Revolution will still occur and both characters will be overpowered by its strong pull. Caitriona Balfe also shared that “Outlander” Season 5 will be different as Claire is no longer front and center. Indeed, with the arrival of Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin), the show will have to develop both characters and provide them with a gripping storyline so fans can root for them.
