SILVER SPRING, Md., Aug. 31, 2017 -- SLI Global Solutions’ Government Solutions Division was well represented at the 2017 Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference (MESC) Aug. 14 – 18 in Baltimore, MD. For the first time since its inception over two decades ago, representatives from all 53 states and all U.S. territories attended the completely sold out MESC. The increased attendance reflects the marketplace’s response to new requirements and opportunities to improve the quality, timeliness and costs of systems and health outcomes.

This year’s annual meeting of healthcare IT professionals focused on the evolving guidance from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on modular Medicaid systems procurement, development and certification. CMS rolled out their latest version of the Medicaid Enterprise Certification Toolkit, called MECT 2.2, for Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) implementations. CMS also launched the Medicaid Eligibility and Enrollment Toolkit (MEET) to assist states as they work to streamline and modernize their Eligibility and Enrollment (E&E) systems. MECT 2.2 enhancements and the MEET have major implications for the future of MMIS and E&E implementations.
SLI President Steve Esposito and Director of Business Development Mark Joyce participated on an industry panel titled “Procurement in a Changing World,” which provided lessons learned to over 100 MESC attendees from SLI’s current Medicaid engagements. SLI is currently delivering Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) and assessment services, Quality Assurance (QA) and Project Management (PM) on Medicaid implementation projects in eight states and territories. SLI was recently selected by the Wyoming Department of Health to deliver IV&V services for their MMIS project and provide Certification IV&V for North Dakota’s MMIS which has been live for over a year.
In the conference exhibit hall, SLI professionals were excited to demonstrate the company’s proprietary productivity tools SCORe™ and SIGNaL™, which streamline both the deliverable review processes and interview guide and checklist generation. These tools are an integral part of SLI’s certified Quality Management System that recently earned upgraded status to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Esposito said, “SLI came away from the conference armed with the knowledge that as industry trends continue to change in the Medicaid IT arena, IV&V services are becoming even more critical to MMIS project success and certification. Our commitment to the SLI ‘We can help …’ mission continues to resonate with the Medicaid business and technical communities.”
